CO-CAPTAIN Marc Sneyd stands a chance of breaking a longstanding Hull FC record next season.

The half-back is currently third in the club’s list of all-time goal kickers, but he could end the 2022 campaign on top of the pile.

Joe Oliver is the man that owns the record for the most goals slotted whilst wearing black and white.

Oliver had two spells at the Boulevard as a player between 1928-37 and 1943-45 and helped the club win the title in 1936, with his two tries and five conversions powering FC to a 21-2 win over Widnes.

During his time at the club, he successfully kicked 687 goals with his final game coming against Dewsbury 76 years ago.

John Maloney came close to breaking it as he managed 674 goals between 1965 and 1974.

Sneyd though, sits on 655, consisting of 619 place-kicks and 36 drop goals, meaning he is just 32 behind Oliver.

Hence, if he stays fit and plays regularly, Sneyd will almost certainly be able to call himself Hull’s record goal kicker by the end of the next Super League campaign.

The scrum-half joined the Black and Whites ahead of the 2015 season and has made progress up the leaderboard with a success rate of 79.56 per cent when it comes to penalties or conversions.

With 19 tries to boot, he finds himself in the top five when it comes to most points scored, too, after leapfrogging both Colin Hutton and Danny Tickle in the second half of the Super League campaign.

Sneyd has racked up a total of 1350 points during his seven seasons at the MKM Stadium and he’s closing in on fourth placed Ned Rogers, who recorded 1,375 points during the three-point try era.

Oliver leads this tally once again, with 1,842 to his name and that will take some breaking.

However, Sneyd will hope to be able to surpass Paul Eastwood (1,464) and John Maloney (1,462), who sit in second and third respectively, in the chart next year, too.
