PLAYERRATINGS

-

NATHAN BAXTER

Keeper looked very assured in the City net. Big save in the first half to deny Hogan at 1-0. Looked comfortable in everything he did. Enjoyed a bit of gamesmanship with travelling fans with the game done at 2-0.

JACOB GREAVES

Getting better by the game. Another solid defensive performance and his use of the ball is catching the eye having stepped up a level.

DI’SHON BERNARD

Solid display and won his duels. Great first half moment as he ran fully 60 yards from out of defence to get a shot away.

SEAN MCLOUGHLIN

Blink-and-you’ll-miss-him-type performance but played his part that kept the likes of Deeney, Hogan and Jutkiewicz at bay.

RYAN LONGMAN

Man of the Match. Great performance and set his stall out from the opening moments. Always willing to have a go and showed quality with balls into box.

Got lucky for the goal but played to the whistle take note kids watching.

KEANE LEWIS-POTTER

He’s getting better with every game. Another disciplined performance at wing back but added that vital sprinkling of magic to tee up the decisive second.

RICHIE SMALLWOOD

Battles for everything and tidies up so well. His performances in recent weeks have set the tone for City to hang in there despite disappointing results. Leads by example.

GREG DOCHERTY

Covered every blade of grass in a tireless performance. His confidence and belief is growing by the game. Close to teeing up a third at the death.

GEORGE HONEYMAN

Grabbed the opener and makes such a difference to have him back. His quality from set plays and his work rate makes this side tick. More vital minutes under his belt.

JOSH MAGENNIS

Scrapped and caused a nuisance as one would expect from the big man. A bit of gamesmanship to confront Gary Gardner paid dividends as the

6 Blues midfielder reacted poorly with a head butt to see red.

MALLIK WILKS

Still not quite happening for Wilks on the ball but it’s a vital goal under his belt and he had a few efforts on goal which will please his manager.

FROM THE BENCH

Randell Williams (for Longman 72): Made an impact and almost got himself a goal with a decent effort from the edge of the box which whistled wide of the far post. 6/10

Tyler Smith (for Magennis 72): Didn’t really see much of the ball. 5/10

Andy Cannon (for Honeyman 79): Came on to shore things up in midfield as the Blues wilted. 5/10
