We want our fans to be proud

GOALKEEPER Nathan Baxter is hopeful that he and his Hull City team-mates can continue to make the supporters proud after their recent run of form.

The Tigers have wonntheir last three matches without conceding, a run that has coincided with the introduction of Baxter into the starting XI.

Baxter arrived at the MKM Stadium in the summer on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea but has had to bide his time for a place in Grant Mccann’s team.

The 23-year-old was forced to play second fiddle to Matt Ingram during the early stages of the season, but after a run of just one win in 15 Championship matches, Mccann decided to make a change between the sticks.

After loan spells at the likes of Accrington Stanley and Ross County in recent seasons, City is comfortably the biggest club Baxter has enjoyed a taste of senior football at.

But that is a challenge the Chelsea loanee has taken to like a duck to water and with the recent momentum that both he and the whole team have built in recent weeks, Baxter is desperate to ensure the feel-good factor around the club at the moment continues.

Speaking to BBC Radio Humberside , he said: “To be fair the training ground is always a good environment to come in and work.

“The boys are very close here and the staff are very close.

“But of course, wins bring confidence and it’s much better going onto the pitch knowing that you’ve had a good run of results.

“Also in the stadium, you could really feel that buzz after the Birmingham game and that as players is what we want to bring.

“We want to bring supporters that pay their hard-earned money to come and watch us joy and we want them to enjoy coming to watch their team and being proud of us the more we win and the more we play.

“I think the first 20 minutes against Cardiff we were outstanding and that was obviously against a very good side and then we stood up to the physical battle which we’re going to have again against Millwall.

“So, it’s just a case of taking it game by game and building that momentum.”
