A DEPRAVED paedophile who abused several children in the 1980s and 1990s is back living on a Hull estate.

Ian Marsden was jailed for three years in 2018 after admitting nine counts of indecent assault of a child in the 1980s.

Prior to that, he had also been jailed for 11 years in 2011 for the assaults of four different children.

Marsden, now in his fifties, has been released on licence although remains under strict conditions, as well as being on the sex offenders’ register for life.

The Mail understands he is now living in the Orchard Park estate.

Speaking out, one of his victims told how she was just a primary school pupil when Marsden abused her, leaving her emotionally scarred.

The woman told the Mail she didn’t find out her abuser had been released until he was spotted doing his shopping.

“When I found out he was out, I just felt dizzy and like I was going to be sick,” she said.

“I just feel so let down knowing he’s free. I’ve even come off Facebook so he can’t find me.

“When you find out the guy who abused you is now just walking around free like nothing happened, it feels like a punch in the face.

How dare he walk these streets? I still remember how he stood in the dock with a smirk on his face. He doesn’t care.

“Even the judge had to tell him to stop smirking.”

Under current rules, courts and police are not obligated to inform victims when a prisoner has been released from prison on licence.

A Ministry of Justice spokesperson said: “Victims are asked to join the Victim Contact Scheme after trial so that they can be told in advance about an offender’s release and can request conditions that will prevent them being contacted or finding their attacker living nearby.

“Not all choose to join, which is why we recently changed the Victims’ Code so that all eligible victims are now automatically referred to the scheme so fewer victims find out about releases in such a distressing way.”
