CITY MANAGER’S SOLE FOCUS REMAINS ON SUCCESSIVE WINS

GRANT Mccann says business continues to operate as usual at Hull City, despite the club edging closer to being taken over.

Acun Ilicali’s multi-millionpound buyout of the Championship club is expected to be completed soon, and the Tigers boss says he’s being kept informed of developments by vice-chairman Ehab Allam.

Mccann, though, says his sole focus remains on adding to their four successive wins, which have reignited what had been a dreadful start to the season and his long-term planning is not being impacted by the uncertainty.

City will look to make it five straight league wins for the first time since January 2019, this weekend when they travel to Reading, who sit a point and two places below them in the league.

And despite growing expectation Ilicali’s deal will be ratified before Christmas, Mccann says his focus remains on one thing, matters on the pitch.

“Nothing, not at all,” he told

BBC Radio Humberside if the takeover was having an impact.

“It’s business as usual, that’s the Ehab approaches things.

“It’s business as usual until we hear otherwise.”

City have ten players out of contract at the end of the season, and will lose Nathan Baxter, Di’shon Bernard, Matt Smith and Ryan Longman when their loan moves come to an end.

Those players who see their deals come to an end in the summer will be able to sign precontract agreements with other clubs next month, but Mccann says that’s not a concern at this stage.

“No, not yet,” he said about whether or not discussions had begun over extensions and triggering options for the likes of George Honeyman, Callum Elder, Mallik Wilks and Josh Emmanuel who could all walk away in June if agreements aren’t struck.

“Our only focus is trying to prepare for the game on Saturday.

“Again, we haven’t focused on that nor have the players, all we’re focusing on within the camp is the next game.”
