A NEW job to manage flagship projects in the city centre is being advertised by Hull City Council.

The post comes with a full-time salary of between £48,181 and £51,787.

It follows the recent award of a £19.5m grant to Hull from the government’s Levelling Up Fund.

The grant will cover three councilled initiatives in the city centre taking shape over the next few years.

They include the Albion Square development, ongoing regeneration work in Whitefriargate and a separate new grant scheme to help businesses and property owners to bring unused floorspace back into use.

The Albion Square scheme will soon see the demolition of the former BHS and Co-op department stores ahead of the re-development of the site bordered by Jameson Street, Bond Street, Albion Street and King Edward Street.

New high-rise housing, leisure units, office space and a multistorey car park will eventually be constructed there.

The Whitefriargate initiative will continue to support property owners with the cost of converting and upgrading historic buildings in the street.

The new wider grant scheme being set up aims to encourage similar work in other parts of the city centre.

The Hull City Council advert says: “Building on the legacy of Hull: UK City of Culture 2017, the Levelling Up Fund grant will facilitate an exciting package of regeneration works that will deliver transformational change within our city centre.

“The package of Levelling Up Fund projects form part of the council’s wider regeneration programme that is investing more than £400m within the city over the next five years.

“Partnership working plays an essential role in the successful delivery of our schemes, providing unique opportunities to work collaboratively and creatively with organisations such as HM Government, Historic England, the Humber and East Yorkshire Local Economic Partnership, Arts Council England and Highways England.

“We are seeking candidates with excellent project management skills to join us to drive forward our Levelling Up Fund scheme which will contribute towards our ambition to transform Hull into a productive, innovative and clean growth economy.

“If you are excited by the opportunity of playing a central role in the regeneration of Hull, and you share our aspiration to allow everyone to benefit from economic success, then we would like to hear from you.”

Candidates for the job have until May 20 to get their applications in. Interviews for those shortlisted will take place on June 10.
