HULL City defender Jacob Greaves says he wants to sign a new contract at the MKM Stadium, after a terrific first season in the Championship for his hometown club.

The youngster played over 4,000 minutes in all 45 games this season, the only player to do so alongside fellow local boy Keane Lewis-potter, and his form has attracted a number of Premier League suitors.

West Ham boss David Moyes is understood to be one manager keeping a close eye on the performances of Greaves after impressing during his debut campaign in the second tier, while England Under-21 boss Lee Carsley revealed to the Mail earlier this season that the Hull-born ace was on their radar.

Greaves’ current deal runs until next summer, although the club does have the option to extend it by a further 12 months.

Greaves, whose stock continues to rise, picked up the club’s

Young Player of the Year award at Tuesday night’s end-of-season celebrations, after boss Shota Arveladze selected the 21-yearold as his star man, says his focus remains on being a part of what he feels is an exciting future at the MKM Stadium under new owner Acun Ilicali.

“I feel really happy with where I am, but definitely, I want to sign a new deal there’s no doubt about that,” Greaves told the Mail pitchside at the MKM Stadium, as he contemplated a job well done this term.

“If the right one comes along then I will 100 percent sign it, it’s a no-brainer for me.

“I love the club and it’s one very close to my heart. If I can sign another long-term deal here then I would without a shadow of a doubt.”

Greaves wasn’t the only local boy honoured for his performances this term, with teammate Keane Lewis-potter picking up the Supporters, Players’ and Player of the Season awards while Jevon Mills collected the Academy gong.

“I’m delighted to get the award, it’s a massive achievement and a great award,” Greaves admitted.

“It’s a great achievement for me personally and a great accolade. It has been a really good season for me when I look at it, and for the team.

“I’ll take this and hopefully build on it for next season.”
