Nearly 800 new Covid cases in our region
FIGURES COME AS 21 LIVES CLAIMED
A FURTHER 792 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus across Hull and the East Riding in the week up to Wednesday, May 11.
The Government’s latest rolling figures show the case rate per 100,000 people across the region was 109.6 for Hull and 123.3 in the East Riding in the seven days up to Friday, May 6, the latest weekly data available.
A total of 102,089 new coronavirus cases were recorded nationally in the week up to Wednesday, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 22,145,157, with 1,512 new deaths recorded up to Monday, May 9, making a total of 176,424.
Hull’s infection rate has fallen from 170.2 in a week.
The East Riding’s rate of cases per 100,000 people dropped from 173.1 during the same period.
The number of positive test results in each area since the pandemic began is recorded below, with new weekly positive test results in brackets:
HULL: 90,385 (+260)
EAST RIDING: 106,546 (+532)
The number of people being treated in hospital in Hull and East Riding as a result of Covid:
IN HOSPITAL: 155 (+ four from Tuesday, May 10)
IN INTENSIVE CARE: one (- one from Tuesday, May 10)
The number of deaths within 28 days of a positive test result in each area since the pandemic began is recorded below, with deaths in the past seven days, and deaths removed from the total following revisions to past data, in brackets:
HULL: 902 (Up 12 in the past seven days, up two weekly to Friday, April 29 to 919 with coronavirus on death certificate)
EAST RIDING: 1,080 (Up 19 in the past seven days, up ten weekly to Friday, April 29 to 1,145 with coronavirus on death certificate)
Government data up to Wednesday, May 4, shows that in the UK, 142,390,214 jabs have been given so far, 53,264,512 first doses, 49,780,389 second doses and 39,345,313 boosters.
The local data shows (as of Tuesday, May 10):
HULL: First dose 191,631 (78.2 per cent), second dose 178,544 (72.8 per cent), booster 133,437 (54.4 per cent)
EAST RIDING: First dose 285,556 (90.2 per cent), second dose 274,951 (86.8 per cent), booster 232,991 (73.6 per cent)
