HULL’S Dope Burger stormed to the top of the leader charts in the new BBC show Britain’s Top Takeaways.

Takeaway duo Danny and Ollie wowed judges with their delicious iconic rainbow bagel burgers on Wednesday night’s episode.

The pair faced stiff competition from four other top-rated burger places in the country.

The food was judged by four different groups - three burger-loving families and a tennis club.

Danny and Ollie prepared a number of burgers from their menu, blowing them all away.

The duo started Dope Burger on Anlaby Road, Hull, before expanding to establish diners in Leeds and Doncaster.

Their Dope empire now includes Dope Dough, Wagwan Chicken and Boss Burritos

In the first round of Wednesday night’s show, the takeaways were asked to create their version of the iconic cheeseburger.

The Hull duo whipped up the Black and Blue burger in their trademark rainbow bagels.

Within the first round, the judges said their burgers were “heavenly” and instantly named them as “the ones to beat”.

They received top scores from both judging groups, giving them a total of ten points to start off the show.

In the second round, teams were asked to prepare a vegetarian burger.

Danny and Ollie presented their Korean Chickpea Burger. They placed in the middle, giving them three points to add to their score.

In the final section, they prepared a short-rib burger for the last family and a spread of “two of everything” for the tennis group.

They continued to wow everyone with their yummy grubs and came out victorious, triumphing with a total of 31 points, a runaway lead from second place from Dorian and Rupert of The Burger Shop in Worcester, who finished second with 23 points.

Presenter and stand-up comedian Darren Harriott finished the show by telling Danny and Ollie that “everyone was blown away by the rainbow bagels” and “what they’ve got there is special.”

Apart from the impressive win on Britain’s Top Takeaways to add to their accolades, Dope Burger has also already achieved national recognition for its food.

In 2019, the takeaway was voted the third best place in Britain to grab a burger in a poll by Big 7 Travel of its 1.5 million readers and a panel of food writers.
