NEW ‘DESTINATION ZERO’ PODCAST SERIES OFFERS UNIQUE INSIGHT INTO GROUND-BREAKING HUMBER ENERGY PROJECTS

-

Major international energy company Equinor has launched a new podcast series, featuring some of the projects and investments that the company is making in the North of England. As well as providing a deep dive into these projects and new, low carbon technologies, the series features several figures from the Hull and Humber region.

The new series, ‘Destination Zero: Realising a Low-carbon Future’, provides a platform to talk about the potential opportunities for Yorkshire and the Humber, as well as examining wider energy, environment and climate change issues. The series will comprise of six, thirty minute episodes, published fortnightly from mid-february to midapril. Episodes cover a range of topics, from local supply chain opportunities to skills and education, as well as myth busting of innovative technologies like hydrogen and Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage.

The series is hosted by internationally respected sustainability journalist James Murray, who is Editor of Businessgreen magazine and website. Guests featured in the series include not only experts from at Equinor, but also nearly thirty high quality speakers including Members of the UK Parliament; Government policy makers; senior leaders in partner businesses; trade body and industry spokespeople; and prominent academics.

The podcast can be accessed via the Equinor website, or your usual podcast platforms including Spotify and Apple Podcasts. “Countries with ability to produce truly green products which are associated with renewables, hydrogen and Ccs-enabled industrial clusters, will find that there is an increased commodity value for their products and that they have the advantage over the rest of the world.”

Dan Sadler, Equinor

“The biggest industrial emissions in the UK are to be found in and around The Humber with our refining, our power production and Saltend is at the heart of that. If you combine The Humber with the Tees, then you’ve got more than half of all the industrial emissions of the UK there. We will be making a significant step for the whole country.”

Graham Stuart MP

“If you want to be engaging our future workforce, you want to be aiming at our four and five year olds. You don’t want to be aiming at the 14 and 15 year olds.

It’s too late at that point.”

Liam Johnson, Inmans Primary School

“We need to embrace both carbon capture and storage opportunities, but equally important is to put the hydrogen into the system. So the opportunity to store CO2 offshore opens up the blue hydrogen potential to support decarbonisation of industry.”
