‘I used energy bill tips from Martin Lewis and left winter £180 in credit’

- Tigercol

Energy prices are skyrocketing and we’re being told to watch our carbon footprint for the sake of the planet, so when I moved to an old house in east Hull in September last year I used my smart meter and tried to save as much energy as possible – here is what I found.

All these comments about how to keep the costs down and some saying how its worked, so what? Come October, they’re putting prices up further! So essentially, those struggling and thought they had found a way to ease the issue, will mean nothing soon. The only ones who can challange the energy companies to lower prices, as they have been found out for having massive profits last year and continue to do so, is the Tory Government for the UK. But for reasons unknown, they won’t do anything about the energy companies. And what’s even more shocking, the leader of the opposition party, Labour, haven’t insisted the Government challange the energy companies. I’m beginning to wonder if Labour who claim to be “New Labour”, should just change its name to “Conservative Party part deux”.

Very well, but in this day and age we shouldn’t have to wrap up in hat, scarves and gloves to constantly walk round the house to keep warm.

We are being told to save money by cutting back on absolutely everything, yet expected to rely on technology to do anything, but that still needs vast amounts of power from somewhere. This is getting ridiuclous now.

All people should be entitled to heat their homes, not just the rich.

Brian Matthews

While these tips certainly do the trick in bringing down the bills, it’s just a shame more and more people have to do these measures. And as time goes on, even the electric blanket and the daily five-minute electric shower might not even be feasible for many. It’s no way to live.
