Northern Rail introduces a new timetable

-

TRAIN operator Northern introduced a new timetable on Sunday and Hull will see a small reduction in its Leeds services.

There will, however, be more services running between Hull and Bridlington, making it easier for people reliant on public transport to get to the East Yorkshire coastline.

On the majority of its routes, Northern will maintain the service levels brought in in December 2021.

Tricia Williams, chief operating officer at Northern, said: “Customers are at the heart of everything we do, and the new timetables are designed to deliver high levels of reliability.

“We’ve made decisions about our timetables based on the levels of resource we have available and prioritising the routes with the highest customer demand, and which support the region’s economic growth.

“We fully understand the role we play in keeping people on the move and I am asking our customers to familiarise themselves with the new timetables, and to check carefully before any journeys to ensure their journeys go as smoothly as possible.”

As part of the changes, there will be:

■■A “significant uplift on Yorkshire Wolds Coastline, between Bridlington and Hull” ■■The Hull - Leeds - Halifax route is one of six routes, all linked to Leeds, where “a small number of services” are to be removed

The number of Hull to Bridlington services on Monday to Saturday will increase from 29 to 40 services a day, with the last Hull to Bridlington service each day leaving Hull Paragon at 10.16pm, to arrive in Bridlington at 11.01pm.

There will remain 14 Northern services linking Hull to Bridlington every Sunday.

The Hull to Halifax via Leeds services will reduce from 14 timetabled trains every day Monday to Friday and 12 on Saturdays, to eight scheduled services each day, Monday to Saturday.

Northern is the UK’S second largest train operator, with nearly 2,000 services a day to more than 500 stations across the North of England.

The new timetable runs from Sunday, May 15 to Saturday, December 10, 2022.
