Paedophile told ‘11-year-old girl’ he would get her pregnant to help her escape care
REPEAT OFFENDER JAILED FOR SIX YEARS
A HULL man met what he thought was a vulnerable 11-year-old girl on an online chatroom and made her his girlfriend before telling her he would impregnate her to help her escape foster care.
He sent her sexual images of himself and asked the same of her, and told her “she would not remain a virgin for much longer”. In fact, he was speaking to a decoy, not a girl.
When he was arrested by police, he said “he would end up doing something to myself because I **** ed up my life so many times”.
Since 2012, he has spent more than seven years in prison for engaging and attempting to engage in sexual activity with children, a court heard.
Carl Bielby, 34, of Beverley Road, Hull, admitted to attempting sexual communication with a child, attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity and breach of a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) at Hull Crown Court.
Geraldine Kelly, prosecuting, told the court between August 17, 2021, and August 25, 2021, Bielby attempted to communicate with who he thought was an 11-yearold girl.
However, it was was a decoy profile setup by Cobra UK, which aims to protect children from online predators.
Bielby came across the “girl” in the a chatroom meant for children under 19 years old. It was clear in her profile that she was 11 and it also said that she was in foster care, the court heard.
The defendant initiated contact with her and asked her how many cats she had. He told her he was a single dad of two and was 34.
Undeterred, he asked her if she wanted to be a mother to his two children and asked for her number. When she said she was not allowed to give it out, he asked for her email instead.
He asked her to send a picture of herself with a sign saying “hi” so he could be sure it was her, and a picture was sent.
The same day, he asked her if he could kiss her. He told her he wanted to “arrange to meet up with her to get her pregnant so she would not have to return to foster care” and he wanted to “treat her like a princess”.
The court heard the two continued communication for a week, which included Bielby sending her a picture of his penis and asking her for indecent pictures of herself while teaching her how to touch herself. He asked her intimate details about her body and offered to buy her underwear.
Bielby arranged to meet up with her in a Mcdonald’s in Harlow. He intended to collect her from there and take her back to his home in Hull. He told her if she wanted to run away she could stay with him.
He reminded her before meeting her that he was going to have sex with her, and told her she would not be a virgin for much longer after meeting up with him.
He confirmed the meeting but stopped communicating with her, leaving her at the meeting point in Harlow. He got back in touch with her the following day and told her he had got a flat tyre.
Cobra UK relayed this information to the police, who told the member running the sting to cease contact with him. However, Bielby was seen continuing communication with other children on Chatavenue’s public chat. So the member continued speaking with him as they felt it would be better than him speaking with a real child.
On August 26, Bielby arranged to meet the “girl” again at Hull Train Station. Cobra UK informed Humberside Police, who then arrested him from his home address.
He told police: “If I ever went back to prison, I would end up doing something to myself because I ***ed up my life so many times.”
David Godfrey, mitigating, told the court Bielby pleaded guilty and regretted his behaviour.
In 2012, Bielby was jailed for 22 months for inciting a female child under 13 to engage in sexual activity and making indecent photographs of a child. He was registered on the sex offenders register for ten years.
In 2015, he was sentenced to three years in prison for attempting to meet a girl under 16 following sexual grooming and breaching the SHPO. In 2019, he was sentenced to two years in prison for attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and breaching the SHPO again.
During the latest sentencing, Recorder Hampton told Bielby: “You have a distorted view related to sex and children. You are of high risk of harm to both male and female children.”
Due to Bielby’s previous convictions and the seriousness of the offence, he was sentenced to six years and nine months in prison.
He will remain on licence for another five years. If he were to commit another offence, he could be recalled to prison to serve the additional five years in prison.
