Get involved with Parkinson’s Volunteer Week

DURING her Platinum Jubilee celebrations, Her Majesty The Queen will be shining a light on volunteers in the UK. And at Parkinson’s UK, we will be waving our flags to mark the extraordinary work of our volunteers.

Parkinson’s UK will be marking Volunteers’ Week, which runs from June 1 to 7, by launching its annual Volunteering Awards to thank those who have worked hard to change lives of people with Parkinson’s, their loved ones and those who care for them, and helping us advance in our quest for a cure.

There are currently 145,000 people living with Parkinson’s in the UK and it is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world.

In the UK, over a million people’s lives are affected by Parkinson’s including friends, families and carers, so chances are you will know someone living with it too.

With more than 3,500 volunteers involved in Parkinson’s UK, our volunteers really are superheroes and at the centre of everything we do.

From campaigning for change and striving to achieve better healthcare policies, to cheering at events and producing podcasts, or getting involved with research trials, they are absolutely vital.

All this work is exceptional, especially as we have seen life change dramatically over the past two years.

We were in awe of the many volunteers who had to learn new skills quickly and were ready to embrace change.
