KR trio set to face Salford, but doubt surrounds Lewis

-

HEAD coach Tony Smith says Hull KR could possibly welcome back three players for Sunday’s match against Salford Red Devils.

Matty Storton, Will Dagger and Dean Hadley all left the field during the defeat to Catalans Dragons with head knocks, but Smith revealed that all three should all play as KR try to recover from their dip in form.

“Dagger and Storton are fine, but because it’s Dean’s second concussion within a year, he has to do some extra tests,” said Smith. “We will know by Tuesday about him, but he’s passed all our checks, so we assume all three will be playing this weekend.”

Sam Wood is also ready to make his comeback, with Smith confident the former Huddersfield Giants’ man will be available.

“Woody is pretty good. He’s coming to the end of his recovery cycle and should hopefully be available for this week,” Smith confirmed.

The big news is that the mercurial pair of Matt Parcell and Mikey Lewis could both be back for Sunday’s clash.

Parcell is ready to return after sitting out the defeat to Catalans, but Smith still has his doubts around Lewis, who hasn’t featured since early April after suffering an ankle injury in the victory over Castleford Tigers.

“We are hoping Mikey is ready for Salford, and it’s just touch and go at the moment,” he continued. “The workload on his injury means he is sore and struggles some days, he trained with us on Monday and was fine, but we are just taking it each day at a time.

“If Mikey doesn’t make it, Milnes and Dagger will probably play half-backs again, but Mikey is seeing a consultant this week, and it all depends on how he responds in training. Matt Parcell is fully training with us now. He’ll be fine to start or come off the bench unless he suffers another setback.”
