No rest now as the international stage beckons City stars

TRIO HEAD OFF TO REPRESENT THEIR COUNTRIES THIS MONTH

- By WILLIAM JACKSON william.jackson@reachplc.com @Williamj93

The Championship campaign ended several weeks ago but some players aren’t able to relax just yet after being called up to represent their countries. Hull City don’t have many internationals in their squad, but supporters can still watch a couple in action over the coming days, with games set to be played across the world.

Here’s a look at who could be in action and where over the next couple of weeks.

Keane Lewis-potter – England under-21s

Lewis-potter made his England under-21s debut in March as he came on as a late substitute against Albania and after being included in Lee Carsley’s latest squad, he’ll be hoping to build on that.

The Young Lions are in action four times over this international period as they bring their 2023 UEFA European under-21 Championship qualifying campaign to an end.

England are currently second in their group, but with two games in hand, meaning they have a good chance of progressing to next year’s tournament.

They travel to play Czech Republic on Friday, June 3, before returning to

Chesterfield to face Albania on Tuesday, June 7.

Lewis-potter will hope to play a part in both games before Carsley takes his side to Kosovo on Friday, June 10.

The final game of their qualifying campaign comes at Huddersfield’s John Smith’s Stadium on Monday, June 13 against Slovenia.

The Hull-born forward has plenty of competition for a spot in the side, with Angel Gomes, Anthony Gordon and Emile Smith Rowe amongst those included in the squad, but he’ll be confident of getting more game time in the white of England.

Allahyar Sayyadmanesh – Iran

Iran are preparing themselves for yet another trip to the World Cup finals later this year and they play a friendly this month.

The Iranians made short work of their

Asian qualifying group and they will be keen to test themselves when they take on Uruguay on Saturday, June 11 in Montevideo.

Sayyadmanesh, who is expected to move to City on a permanent basis this summer, has six caps to his name, with his one goal for Iran coming on his debut against Syria back in 2019.

Iran have a strong squad, with Porto striker Mehdi Taremi and Bayer Leverkusen’s Sardar

Azmoun competing alongside the City forward for a spot in the attacking line-up.

However, he’ll hope to do enough to catch the eye with the World Cup approaching quickly.

Marcus Forss – Finland

Forss ended the season at the MKM Stadium on loan from Brentford and despite struggling for form in black and amber, he did enough to earn a spot in the Finland squad.

The Eagle-owls have four games to play in June as they kick off their Nations League B campaign.

They face Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 4, before taking on Montenegro, Romania and Bosnia again over the following days.
