Hodgson waits on trio for Wakey clash

-

BRETT Hodgson is hopeful of being able to call on Ligi Sao, Carlos Tuimavave and Jordan Lane this weekend as Hull FC travel to Wakefield Trinity.

The trio all picked up issues during the Black and Whites’ last outing against Wigan Warriors and there were fears they could be looking at lengthy lay-offs.

Sao injured his PCL in the clash and was forced off the field, while Lane and Tuimavave picked up shoulder and hamstring problems respectively.

All three have recovered well over the last week or so, though, and the head coach will be checking on their fitness in the coming days as FC aim to build on their fine recent form.

“Ligi is progressing nicely,” Hodgson was pleased to report.

“I think he’ll be OK, we just have another couple of boxes to tick for him. Carlos got a knock on the weekend and again we’ll just see how he progresses over the next bit.

“Laney had an AC issue in his shoulder and again it will be something that probably has to be managed over the next period but he should be fine.”

After missing the last two months of action with a back complaint, Ben Mcnamara is working his way towards a return and Hodgson believes he could be just a few weeks away.

“He’s started back light training now,” the head coach said when asked about the young halfback.

“It was always going to be around a month from that period so I’m thinking that he’s going to be a month away.”

Hodgson is confident of having Mitieli Vulikijapani at his disposal again sooner rather than later, too.

He added: “Mitch is progressing nicely this week and all being well he should be available for Catalans next week, if selected.”
