The music icon’s Eighties classic Running Up That Hill went straight to number one on the itunes charts this week after it featured in the opening episode of the latest season of Netflix’s sci-fi smash Stranger Things. It also reached number 106 on Spotify’s top 200.
BRADFORD
The city in West Yorkshire has been unveiled as the UK City of Culture 2025. It beat off competition from the likes of County Durham, Southampton and Wrexham to take the title, and is expected to benefit from millions of pounds of investment.
TOP GUN: MAVERICK
The action sequel may have been two years late but it was worth the wait as it took $248m (£196m) worldwide at the box office in its first weekend becoming the first film starring Tom Cruise to break the $100m mark on its opening. It was also the highest opening for a non-superhero movie released since the pandemic began.

The West Ham footballer has been ordered to carry out 180 hours’ community service and banned from keeping cats for five years after kicking and slapping his pet in a home video posted on Snapchat. The defender drew international condemnation after footage emerged of him mistreating the pet in his kitchen.
BALDNESS
A bald head could be a thing of the past in Britain by 2138, it has been predicted, as the demand for hair transplants has doubled. There are now 6.4million bald people in Britain, around 555,000 less than a decade ago. If the trend continues, then baldness will be gone in 116 years.
HOLIDAYS
Half term turned into a nightmare for travellers this week as hundreds of flights were pulled by airlines, holidays were cancelled and bags took hours to arrive. Some passengers were informed by police officers that their flight would no longer be going ahead.
BARCLAYS
The bank has announced plans to shut down operations at 27 more branches. It follows previous closure announcements which will mean 103 branches will be shut down by the end of 2023.
