Brookie’s favourite

-

WE’VE had a few former Brookside stars turn up in Coronation Street over the years: Louis Emerick (Mick Johnson in the Channel 4 show), Michael Starke (Sinbad) and Sue Johnston (Sheila Grant) to name just a few.

Now Simon O’brien who played the tragic Damon Grant in the Liverpool soap is walking the Cobbles as Sean’s new boyfriend Frank.

The 56-year-old actor is remembered by a huge generation of soap fans for the role that he played opposite screen parents, Royle Family stars Ricky Tomlinson and Sue. He starred in the soap for five years, from 1982 when the first episode aired, and now also presents Channel 4 property show, The Great House Giveaway.

This week Eileen mistakes the newcomer for an ex-prisoner selling items door-to-door. Later George

gets a nasty shock when he sees Frank – it seems the pair have a history both of them would rather forget. The pair were at school together, and it’s clear that things weren’t rosy between them.

Elsewhere, Aadi impresses Summer by making a set of homemade revision cards.

Unfortunately, she stores them in her blood sugar testing kit, and they’re discovered by an invigilator during an exam.

As Aadi’s handwriting is all over them, it’s the lovesick teen who receives the blame; he’s accused of cheating and although Summer knows the right thing to do is to own up, she struggles to do so.

Max hones his cookery skills after landing a date with school friend Sonya, Jenny regrets making Leo’s hideous home-brew the pub’s latest guest ale, and the police continue their investigation into last week’s crash as baby Alfie’s future remains uncertain.
