Tanginoa is ready to face England
KELEPI Tanginoa helped get Wakefield Trinity’s season back on track and now aims to bring England to their knees again with the Combined Nations All Stars.
The big Australian second-row scored a dramatic 76th minute winning try as Wakefield defeated Warrington 30-24 on Sunday.
It was the third time they have beaten Wolves this term and back-to-back triumphs after a golden point victory over Hull to ease relegation fears.
Along with Trinity captain Jacob Miller - who set up his try - Tanginoa now links up with the All Stars as they prepare to face England at Halliwell Jones Stadium on Saturday.
The ex-manly star, 28, said: “I’m looking forward to it. I played last year and it was a brilliant experience playing with the foreign players and obviously we turned over England then.
“I think we can do it again. Milky (Miller) is in as well and Mase (Lino) was originally. It’s a big achievement for the club having players in the All Stars squad.”
Samoa scrum-half Lino misses out after picking up a one-game ban for a high tackle in the Warrington contest.
He will be available for Wakefield’s next fixture against Salford Red Devils on June 26.
Dogged Trinity came from behind four times to level on Sunday before finally taking the lead for the first time with Tanginoa’s try.
He said: “It feels good. The boys pulled in in the last 10 minutes and at 24-24 we just felt we had that extra spark.
That just came down to us. It was confidence. We knew that we had that game. Milky and Mase put it together and brought it home.”
Wakefield remain second bottom above Toulouse but they are now level on points with Salford and Warrington.
Tanginoa added: “This gives us leverage to compete in the middle of the table.”
