East Yorkshire children’s nanny gets own TV show in America

-

A HORNSEA woman who moved to the US to work as a children’s nanny has branched out into television with a series of creative art programmes aimed at children.

Hannah Perry, who went on to develop The Giggling Pig art and party studios, which has expanded across Connecticut with a series of new franchises this year, has joined Fox61 for the summer with a slot on the breakfast show, alongside the network’s weatherman Matt Scott.

Hannah said: “I’m grateful to Matt Scott and Fox61 for the opportunity to share my love of art with families who aren’t able to visit one of my studios in person.

“Working with Matt is the perfect way to start any day of the week and he really makes me giggle.”

Matt Scott said: “Hannah is delightful - she takes every bit of charm that she has and uses for the kids at her studios and it translates perfectly well for our morning television show. “Plus, she puts up with me!” Mother-of-two Hannah was educated at Hornsea School and Beverley College, where she gained a degree in childhood education. She worked as a children’s nanny in Switzerland and Italy before moving to a similar role in Westport, Connecticut.

After a spell as personal assistant to film actor Stanley Tucci, she started The Giggling Pig art and party studio in Shelton, Connecticut.

In 2017, she was voted America’s female entrepreneur of the year at the Stevie Awards ceremony.

She has gone on to appear as a motivational speaker at a number of high profile events in New York.

Hannah says her inspiration to follow a career in art came from weekends spent in the art department of the Hull Daily Mail, when it was based in Jameson Street, where her father, Keith Perry, was assistant editor.
