Seri turns down Saudis

-

JEAN Michael Seri has reportedly turned down a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia in order to secure a switch to Hull City this summer, according to the Guardian.

The Tigers have been in talks with Seri for a number of weeks now as they look to strengthen their options in midfield.

Seri was released by Fulham earlier this month and so is available on a free transfer, though the 30-year-old will need to take a significant pay-cut in order to secure a switch to East Yorkshire.

However, the indications are that the Tigers expect to be able to agree terms that will be deemed acceptable for club and player alike.

The 30-year-old met with City owner Acun Ilicali in Istanbul on Monday as the two parties look to get a deal completed so the midfielder can join up for pre-season training, which has commenced at Cottingham.

And while a club in Saudi Arabia has tried to tempt him with a huge offer, Seri’s focus remains on securing a move to the MKM Stadium as he looks to add a second promotion to his CV.

Featuring 33 times for Fulham in 2021-22, Seri will bring immediate knowledge of what is required to become a challenger in the higher reaches of a notoriously competitive division, as Marco Silva’s side romped to the title.

He netted one goal and provided six assists last season and would add some muchneeded quality to an area that has lost both Richie Smallwood and Tom Huddlestone this summer.

City have clearly earmarked midfield as a position that needs strengthening, with the captures of Ozan Tufan and Adama Traore also expected to be ratified imminently.
