A MAN has suffered “life-changing injuries” following a serious collision on the A63 in Hull, which caused his car to overturn on Monday, June 13.

A white Dacia Duster is thought to have collided with other vehicles at around 5.10pm on the westbound A63 between St Andrews Quay and Priory Park, before flipping over.

The vehicle damaged in the collision was seen “flying 10ft in the air” before landing on its roof, according to witnesses.

The driver of the vehicle was then rushed to hospital after witnesses saw him being surrounded by the fire service, who are thought to have cut him out of the vehicle.

Nearby stretches of the A63 were closed by police to prevent access to traffic, with the collision causing extensive tailbacks that led all the way back to Myton Bridge.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “We’re appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision in Hull on Monday June 13.

The collision is reported to have taken place at around 5.10pm on the westbound A63 between St Andrews Quay and Priory Park, and resulted in a white Dacia Duster colliding with other vehicles before overturning.

“Anyone that witnessed the collision, or has dashcam footage from the area at the time, is asked to call 101 quoting log 380 of June 13.”

Describing the incident, one eyewitness said: “Car’s just flown about 10ft in the air and flipped on its roof on motorway going up

towards Humber Bridge. A lot of people jumped out to help.”

Another eyewitness, who passed the scene later the same evening, said: “As I drove past, I could see a man laid on a stretcher next to the overturned car.

“It looked like firefighters had been getting him out of the vehicle.

“The car was sat on its roof and very crumpled in places. The traffic was queuing all the way back into the centre of town. I’ve never seen a tailback like it in Hull.”
