A 33-year-old man has been jailed for three months and ordered to sign the sex offenders register for seven years after exposing himself to women in East Yorkshire.

Andrew Conn, of Broomhouse Lane, Doncaster, was charged with three counts of indecent exposure and making off without payment and appeared at Hull Magistrates’ Court on Monday for sentencing. He pleaded guilty to the charges.

Last month, on Saturday, May 21, Humberside Police received three separate calls from members of the public reporting a man indecently exposing himself in Brough and Elloughton.

The following day, a further call was received of a similar nature of a man indecently exposing himself in Howden.

While out driving his car, Conn, for his own sexual gratification, approached several lone women. He propositioned them while making sexual remarks and exposing himself, the court heard.

Detective Tracy St Paul, leading the investigation, said: “This was a disgraceful series of incidents which nobody should have to endure while going about their daily business.

“I am pleased that Andrew pleaded guilty to the offences he has committed and his sentence in prison will give him time to reflect upon his appalling actions and unwanted sexual advances.”

This comes after growing concerns for police forces around the country to crack down on low-level sex offences such as voyeurism and flashing.

Such crimes rose in Humberside last year, with 87 recorded in 2020-21 – the highest recorded in a decade.
