ROADWORKS are set to take place in the village of Newport, near South Cave, in the coming weeks until September.

East Riding Council stated the works would take place along Main Road, or the B1230, for eight nights from Monday, July 11.

The first stage is set to last for eight nights, beginning at 7pm until 6am the following morning, followed by resurfacing from 8am to 5pm until Friday, September 16.

Council environment and climate change portfolio holder Cllr Chris Matthews said: “We’d like to thank residents, business people, and motorists in this area for their patience while this work is carried out.

“The resurfacing of this road is much needed and people will notice the difference when the work is complete.”

The first stage of the £910,000 works is set to affect the stretch of Main Road from the junction with Wallingfen Lane to the slip road with the A63 and M62.

The second stage of resurfacing is due to last eight weeks from Monday, July 25, affecting Main Road from Newport to St Stephen’s Church.

The council stated the use of low temperature asphalt should mean works can be completed quicker than if they used the hotter equivalent.

Council officials are set to contact affected homes and businesses and will keep them updated throughout the works.

Access will continue for homes on Main Road and the streets leading off it but some

restrictions may apply.

On-street parking restrictions will apply with cones placed the indicate the affected areas.

If the weather is bad, the road resurfacing could potentially be delayed.
