Fundraiser to help fulfil teen’s dream

-

A GOFUNDME page has been set up to ensure that a Hull teenager can represent his country in his beloved ice hockey.

Talented 16-year-old James Adamson, of east Hull, has been called up to a tournament for the U16s national squad in Finland as a final part of trials in April. However, to cover costs from jerseys to flights, a fundraiser has been set up to ensure that the netminder can take part.

Since picking up the stick ten years ago, James has played for teams across the region and even gets personal training at his local Graft house gym by Hull Seahawks manager Matty Davis.

Now, James has a chance to represent his nation should he be successful in the final part of trials – by competing in the tournament in Finland to prove his worth.

Gemma Adamson, James’ mum, told Hull Live: “He started [playing] when he was about six or seven at a Hull team because of his grandad. He wouldn’t be where he is today without his grandad and nan’s support taking him over the country to play and train. He went to Bradford and now plays for Leeds Junior Knights.”

Following the move to the Knights, England have taken notice. “A good tournament in Finland could potentially mean that Adam will be joining the U16s England Squad – but at a cost.

“I am asking for donations to be able to send him on this amazing trip, with the price sitting at £1,500 to fulfil this dream. Any help or donations that anyone can spare to help us raise the funds, we as a family will be eternally grateful for.”
