Coyle: Break is good, it gives us time to reflect

-

HULL City will spend this week away from the dark and dank skies of East Yorkshire and instead, will enjoy the luxurious confines of the Regnum Carya resort in Antalya.

For City, their staff and players, it will provide a welcome change of scenery after a long and wet winter at the club’s Cottingham training complex.

City skipper Lewie Coyle was on the flight out of Humberside Airport early today among a squad heavily reduced in number owing to a flurry of international call-ups for the likes of Jaden Philogene and Tyler Morton.

The trip is viewed as crucial by head coach Liam Rosenior as he prepares for the final nine games of the season, which begin with a home clash with Stoke City on Good Friday, particularly given they’re firmly in the race for the top six.

And Coyle says the benefit of having a three-week break in between games is a rare luxury at this stage of a relentless campaign.

“Rest is a big thing to get yourself re-energised to get yourself ready for that real tough period which is ultimately going to decide your season,” Coyle told the Mail.

“Mentally, I think the break will be a good thing and give us a chance to reflect. Reflect on the little bits we need to work on here and there and the bits that have got us in the position where we are.

“The time away which we’ll spend together – you’re going to need togetherness and spirit, which we have in abundance. I feel like the more time you spend with each other, it just lifts that a little bit more. So I feel that the time we spend away from this place together is only going to serve us in a good manner.”
