Peterson dents the Villagers’ dreams

-

NORTH Ferriby FC suffered a 1-0 defeat at Ossett United, thanks to a first half Alex Peterson effort.

They were close to equalising several times in the second half but were denied by a resolute Ossett defence.

Chris Bolder’s side had plenty of the ball in the opening period but were left to rue not making use of the possession as the hosts took the lead.

An Ossett cross was headed back to Peterson by his own man and the Ossett attacker hit an impressive volley past Tom Jackson.

The Villagers came close with an Adam Bolder volley from the edge of the area saved down low by Callum Hiddleston. They continued to look for an equaliser in the second half and came close through Josh Whiteley who fired his shot over.

The hosts came close to adding a second but a good save from Jackson denied Adam Priestley.

Only some good defending from the hosts denied Danny Earl finding Luke Hinsley at the far post. Somehow the ball did not end up in the Ossett goal after a goal-line melee. Harry Lovick’s low effort was blocked, as was Amir Berchil’s. Hinsley looked destined to level but also saw his effort blocked for a corner.

The hosts came close to adding a second with Peterson’s volley just going over the bar.

Levi Tarbotton got on the end of Josh Whiteley’s cross but was denied by a last gasp save from Hiddleston. Earl’s follow up was cleared off the line.

The Villagers came close to an equaliser when Jack Johnson’s header in stoppage time was denied by the post. The hosts then cleared the immediate danger.
