Rosenior hails his quality stars

-

HULL City head coach Liam Rosenior hailed his players’ performance in the

3-0 win over QPR which kept alive their faint hopes of clinching a play-off place.

City were good value from the moment Ozan Tufan opened the scoring after eight minutes, and it was 2-0 when Tufan turned provider to play Fabio Carvalho in for a well-taken second.

Jaden Philogene volleyed in a third, to end a run of six games without victory.

Norwich’s late win at Preston means the gap to the Canaries in sixth remains at six points but City still have a game in hand and remain in the hunt.

“It was really good, I’ve wanted a few more of them,” Rosenior said of his celebrations with the City fans after the full-time whistle.

“Our performance level was not dissimilar to Middlesbrough, I’ve got to be honest. I thought we were excellent and the difference was both boxes. We were really clinical and ruthless, and the players showed their quality in key moments and showed real good moments of defending as well and a resilience to our game.

“There were a couple of professional fouls in there as well, which I probably shouldn’t say, but I liked that as it showed a steeliness and a bit of being street-wise, which I think we’ve lacked at times, so the development is very, very good and if we play at that level for the next four games, we’re going to be a very, very difficult team to play against.”

Tufan’s strike from 25 yards in off the bar was one of best strikes this season, and may well prove to be the best, and drew praise from his manager after Rangers tried to snatch an opener inside a minute. “Yes, we’ve had some good goals. Ozan’s goal was magnificent,” he continued.

“They did what most teams do when they come here kick off, kick the ball in a diagonal, try and fight, win a header when a second ball have a shot, that’s what we have to deal with. There’s nothing wrong with that, but that’s what teams are doing, especially when they come here, so we came through that.

“Ryan (Allsop) makes a save I’d expect him to make and then after that, when we make the game our game, we dominated the game, controlled the game, some of our football was excellent.”
