WE ARE IN A GOOD PLACE

HULL City head coach Liam Rosenior says he still believes his side can yet claim a place in the play-offs as the Championship season edges closer to an exciting conclusion.

City made it two wins in three games by sweeping aside QPR 3-0 at the MKM Stadium on Saturday, courtesy of goals from Ozan Tufan, Fabio Carvalho and Jaden Philogene to notch up an 18th win of a terrific campaign so far.

For long periods of Saturday afternoon, the Tigers were closing the gap on sixth-placed Norwich City to just four points with a game in hand, until Gabriel Sara scored the winner at Preston four minutes from time to keep that six-point advantage for the Canaries, who have just three games to go.

City now have a clear week before taking on Watford at Vicarage Road, followed by games at Coventry, home to Ipswich and away at Plymouth.

Norwich are obviously in the box seat to claim that final play-off berth, but Rosenior and his players have not given up hope, provided they can keep winning.

“We’ve got to win the next game, that’s it,” Rosenior told the Mail.

“That’s all we have to do. That’s all we’ve spoken about.

“We focused everything on Middlesbrough and then we focused everything on QPR.

“In the last three games, we’ve got seven points. Normally, everyone’s delighted with that. We’ve scored eight goals in three games. We’re in a good place. We just need to focus on what we do and make sure if there is any slip-up, we’re there to pounce. And that’s exactly the mindset we’re going be going to Watford with.

“The last two games have been magnificent.

“From when Acun first bought the football club to when I joined to how the football club feels now, it’s been a really great ride.

“We want to finish the season as strongly as possible, we still believe.

“We still believe we can make that top six and if we keep performing like that there’s no reason why not.”
