Robins’ loanee half-back Abdull sidelined by another injury
JORDAN Abdull is set for an indefinite spell on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury.
The half-back, on loan at Catalans Dragons from Hull KR, has been ruled out of action after an injury he picked up earlier this month.
The 28-year-old suffered the injury during the Dragons’ victory over St Helens and now looks set for an extended spell on the sidelines.
It’s a setback for Abdull, who had played every game of the season up to that point but is now dealing with another hamstring injury having missed a substantial part of last year with a similar issue.
Rovers let Abdull leave in the off-season after discussions with head coach Willie Peters.
Injuries have stifled Abdull’s time at Craven Park, making just 55 appearances in four seasons at the club.
In an update issued by Catalans, they said: “Jordan Abdull underwent scans to determine the extent of his injury after leaving the field injured during the match against St Helens.
“The scans have revealed that he has injured the biceps femoris muscle in his left hamstring. His recovery will determine his availability.”
His absence was felt over the weekend as the Catalans were on the receiving end of a hiding in their first game without Abdull. They were dumped out of the Challenge Cup by Huddersfield Giants, who won 34-6. It means Abdull, who was eligible to play against the Robins as part of his loan arrangement, will not feature against his parent club.
He is contracted to KR next year, but Catalans have the option to make his move permanent should they wish to.
