Tigers have a chance of Carvalho returning for next season

-

HULL City should not give up hope of getting Fabio Carvalho back next season even if they’re still in the Championship, according to former England midfielder Carlton Palmer.

Carvalho arrived from Liverpool during the January transfer window in a move which captured the imagination of the football world and since his move, he’s impressed with eight goals in 16 games, including a well-taken goal in the 3-0 win over QPR on Saturday.

It’s expected the Portuguese youngster will return to the managerless Anfield club in the summer and have discussions with Jurgen Klopp’s successor over what happens next in his career, with no shortage of interest in the playmaker.

The 21-year-old still hopes to have a career on Merseyside though another loan move could be in the offing, but Palmer believes the fine work Liam Rosenior and City have done to reinvigorate his career could stand them in good stead come the summer window.

“Fabio Carvalho has said that he’s fallen in love with football again at Hull City,” Palmer told FLW.

“The Liverpool midfield maestro has had an exciting time and has impressed during his time at Hull. Hull have gone well this season, but unfortunately, they’ve tailed off a bit in recent weeks and are now six points off the play-off places.

“The player himself has said he’ll return to Liverpool at the end of the season and will want to see if he can improve his chances of getting in the first team with Jurgen Klopp moving on, as we all know.

“If he’s not involved in pre-season with the first-team squad, then

Liam Rosenior might have a chance of getting him on loan again next season. But the player himself says he wants to go back to Liverpool and assess his future there.

“It’s always difficult when you take a player from a Premier League club on loan, and he does well, but hopefully, if he’s not involved with the first team, then Liam Rosenior will be in a prime position to take him back because he’s enjoyed his time at the club.

“Obviously, there’ll be other interested parties that want to take him on loan if he’s available to be loaned out again.”
