Safari’s new Websites tab
Check out the new settings in Safari
The Websites tab
This tab is completely new in Safari 11 in macos Sierra and High Sierra. It enables you to configure the default settings for all websites and sites with exceptions to them.
Site settings
Select each section in turn and if a website has been configured differently to the default setting, it will appear in the list on the right. You can then change the setting or reset it.
Knowledge base Content blocking
The content blockers feature in Safari is controversial because it can block adverts to make web pages less irritating. Website owners don’t like it because it reduces their income and adverts pay for many sites. Safari’s content blockers do indeed block some adverts, but not all of them. You will still see some ads and it appears to only block the worst.
Change the settings
There are two parts to the sites list and the top part shows the currently open tabs. Select a category on the left, then choose the settings you want for each of the websites.
Default settings
When visiting new websites not yet configured, what default settings are applied? Down in the bottom-right corner is the default applied when visiting other websites. Set it as you prefer.
