Your Siri System Preferences
Make Siri work better for you
Show in menu bar
As well as selecting Siri from your Dock or creating a keyboard shortcut you can also tick this box to ensure that a clickable Siri icon also lives in the menu bar at the top of your screen.
Knowledge base Changing languages
As you will have discovered, Siri has six different voices to choose from when responding in English. However, by clicking on the ‘Language’ menu within the Siri System Preferences you can also choose many other languages from around the world and some, like French, also boast a multiple array of voices to choose from.
Create a keyboard shortcut
Siri is easy to launch and if you create a shortcut there will be three ways of doing so. To create a shortcut, either select one from this dropdown menu or choose ‘Customize’ to create your own.
Siri voice
Currently there are six different voices that you can choose for Siri – male or female with either British, American or Australian accents. Simply select your preferred choice from this menu.
Voice feedback
If the ‘Voice Feedback’ option is enabled then Siri will continue to speak the answers to your questions, regardless of whether you have ‘Type to Siri’ turned on. Turn this to ‘Off’ to silence Siri.
