Set up a profile for kids in Netflix

Netflix is a wondrous viewing portal with access to thousands of films and TV shows, but not all of it is suitable for children. Here we show you how to create a child-friendly profile

First, access the menu

Launch the Netflix app, tap the menu icon that is in the top-left corner of the main Netflix interface and you should see your regular profile name at the top of the menu – tap on this.

Go to the account settings

Now go back to the main Netflix interface and tap on the menu icon in the top-left corner once again. Now scroll down through the menu until you see the ‘Account’ option and then tap on it.

Add profile

You should now see a ‘Who’s Watching?’ screen that displays your regular profile name and an option to ‘Add Profile’ – tap on this and you will be able to start off by choosing an icon for the new profile.

Parental controls

You will now be redirected to the Safari app. Scroll through the Netflix account settings screen and tap on ‘Parental Controls’. You then have to enter your account password before making changes.

For Kids

Next, type in a name for the new profile and then move the ‘For Kids’ slider to the ‘On’ position (you can also change the icon at this stage if you want). Once you are happy to proceed, tap on the ‘Save’ button.

Add a PIN

You will now be able to create a four-digit PIN to add an extra level of security to the account. Type it in and then tap the line underneath to select the age up to which you wish to implement the PIN, then tap ‘Save’.
