Manage calendars and alerts
1 View active calendars
Click on ‘Calendars’ in the top-left corner of the Calendar app interface. This will display a list of all of your active/inactive calendars. The ‘active’ ones will be ticked.
2 Hiding calendars
If you don’t want to see a particular calendar, un-tick it in the sidebar. If you wish to unsubscribe, right-click on the calendar name and choose the ‘Unsubscribe’ option.
3 Limiting alerts
You can also hide the alerts of calendars by right-clicking on the calendar name in the sidebar and choosing ‘Get Info’. In the popup window, tick ‘Ignore Alerts’.
4 Stopping alerts
To mute events for certain calendars, go to Calendar>preferences>alerts and select an account from the top menu. You can now change the various event menus to ‘None’.
5 Tailoring alerts
Alerts for individual apps are also controlled through System Preferences. Click on ‘Notifications’, scroll down through the left sidebar and click on the ‘Calendar’ option.
6 Adjust options
Here you can change the Calendar alert style to ‘None’, or change it to ‘Banners’, which are much-less intrusive as they go away of their own accord before too long.
