Your Memoji

The time has come to make a personalised emoji that represents how you look or what you want to be.

The Animoji feature that appeared in IOS 11 has been used often by some and not much at all by others, but there is no doubting the creativity and brilliance of the implementation. In IOS 12 the Memoji has appeared alongside a few select new characters to add more personalised variety to your communications. The Memoji feature lets you create a character that is supposed to represent you and it does so in quite a traditional way by letting you pick parts of your face until it feels accurate. The clever stuff begins when your creation is finished.

1 Find the +

Tap the Animoji icon when creating a new message and then scroll all the way to the left until you find a ‘+’ icon. Tap it and you can begin to create your Memoji straightaway.

2 Your skin colouring

Immediately you will get a sense of how detailed your Memoji can be by the options that are available for your skin colouring. You can adjust the tones in finite detail until they are perfect.

3 Style is everything

Perhaps the weakest area is the hairstyling which naturally offers a limited set of styles to play with. You can get close to your look, but if you have an unusual cut you may struggle.

4 Your entire face

Eyebrows and even eyelashes are included which should enable you to match the core parts that make you who you are. Remember that you can adjust these depending on your mood.

5 Add some accessories

Eyewear and hats can be added to your Memoji to finish your look, but for most people it’s likely that the face will be enough to get the message over in the most personal way.

6 Time to move

When your Memoji is complete you can record your voice and animate it automatically. You can even stick your tongue out and the Memoji will respond in the appropriate manner. It is great fun.
