Anyone after seismic sound for a relatively cheap price should certainly consider Edifier’s S350DB speakers. The three-piece set comprises of twin titanium-domed satellite speakers and an incredibly weighty boom box that houses an eight-inch subwoofer, all finished in a stylish cherry wood veneer and coming with a satisfyingly weighty metal remote control unit.

Shake the room

Whereas a lot of 2.1 systems only offer titchy satellite speakers and then make up for the small sound with the subwoofer, with the S350DBS you get the best of both worlds – twin speakers that kick out clear, punchy sound at extreme volumes and a woofer that merely backs up the sound of the satellites instead of compensating for their lack of range. We were very impressed with the clarity and depth of sound that this system produces, even when pushed to the outer limits of its range.

You can connect to the S350DBS via Bluetooth, RCA, optical, coaxial or AUX and the set of side panel controls on one of the bookshelf satellites lets you adjust the bass, treble and volume for the entire 2.1 system. The system utilises a builtin amplifier that powers both the bookshelf and the woofer and uses a dynamic range control for amplifying faint sounds and reducing loud sounds. The result is a perfect balance of beautiful noise.
