Corrective actions
We find where the pitch correction slider tool resides within Garageband’s workspace so you don’t have to
Vocal track
To auto-tune a vocal you’ll need some singing! Any audio can, in fact, be pitch-corrected, but in this example we’ve used Christy Lyric 15, Christy Lyric 05 and Christy Background 01 from the Apple Loops library.
Vocal Transformer
This effect is a useful addition, accessible via the Plug-ins box within the Track inspector of the Smart Controls (B) panel. It not only has extra pitch shift controls but also a Formant slider.
Limit to Key
This checkbox, found directly below the Pitch Correction slider in the Track inspector, must be toggled on to apply the auto-tune effect it produces, even if you don’t alter the default project key.
Pitch correction
Found in the Editor’s
Track inspector, the Pitch Correction slider ranges from zero to 100 and gradually applies exactly what it says. To get the most noticeable auto-tune effect it’s best to max it out.
