Use the Watch Dock as an app launcher

Pick the apps you want to appear in the Dock rather than have Apple populate it with your most recent

-

Most Apple Watch users will tend to flock to the same few apps. That’s not a slight on the huge number of programs that are out there for this wonderful wearable. It’s just that some, such as Messages and Fitness, will tend to be used the most.

Looking through the mass of tiny icons, then, can be a bit of a pain, especially if you’re jumping in and out of the same handful. Better to have them contained in the Apple Watch Dock and ensure that they are never knocked from the list unless you decide you don’t want them there.

The way to do this is by making some small changes to the Watch settings. By default, the Dock is populated by your most recently opened apps, so you’ll need to tell it to use your favourites instead. In a sense, this will turn the Watch Dock into something along the lines of the iphone’s App Switcher and it will bring back to life a feature that many us tend to overlook.
