Apple observed ‘Black Out Tuesday’ to support #Blacklivesmatter
Apple cleared its Beats 1 schedule and created a streaming station to celebrate black music this month in response to the
death of George Floyd. Tim Cook also sent a memo to Apple staff saying “we must do more”. Cook says, “That painful past is still present today – not only in the form of violence, but in the everyday experience of deeply rooted discrimination. We see it in our criminal justice system, in the disproportionate toll of disease on Black and Brown communities, in the inequalities in neighbourhood services and the educations our children receive.” Cook says Apple will be making donations to a number of bodies, including the Equal Justice Initiative.
