Shell shocked

Encased within attractive matte-black shells are two 8mm drivers that are slightly larger than the market standard. These help elevate the sound to rock-out levels and allow for a much better level of bass that you can actually feel (so rare with in-ear headphones). Another good feature of the RZ-S500W earphones is the active noise cancelling – also not a common trait of earphones – which can be adjusted through 50 different levels via Panasonic’s Audio Connect app. Reducing the ANC level can extend the battery life, which generally hovers around a disappointing six-hour mark. This may not be enough for your daily requirements, but you can get an additional 14 hours of playtime from a fully charged case.

The question is really if you are prepared to sacrifice battery longevity for ANC. We certainly would be for the quality of sound that these produce.
