AS THE COVID-19 LOCKDOWN sparked the Zoom-boom, where communication with friends and coworkers has mostly taken place through webcams, Hand Mirror is a handy app that allows you to check your hair or makeup before livestreaming yourself.

The app takes the form of a menu bar item that, once clicked, will instantly connect with your Mac’s built-in isight camera to allow you to check your appearance. A small collection of settings let you alter the size of the pop-up video display and choose how the window is closed when you no longer need it.

The best thing about the app is that it is quick, convenient and can be launched in a fraction of the time it takes to open Photo Booth. And it’s free, of course.
