Everything you need to know in order to master High Sierra’s newest features

-

as macos updates go, High Sierra isn’t exactly earthshattering – but this is a good thing. We had precious few gripes with how macos 10.12 operated, so there seemed little point in altering things unnecessarily merely for hollow crowd ‘whoops’. So what

High Sierra does is only focus on areas where genuine improvements could be made, such as how you can tailor individual site settings in Safari, getting better responses from Siri and making it easier to navigate your photo library and apply more varied edits to your images.

of course, much of what the High Sierra update offers is behind the scenes. For example, in APFS macos has a new file system for the first time in about three decades, a new video compression technology for 4K (High Efficiency Video coding, or H.265 for short) and the arrival of metal 2, the very latest version of apple’s graphics API – future-proofing macos for new tech such as virtual reality and bringing macos and ios closer together than ever before.

So while at face-value the marquee features may seem in short supply, there is plenty to digest in High Sierra and over the coming pages we are going to drill down to expose all of what is new and help you become an instant expert.
