Turn video into stills using the SLR effect

Aperture

The SLR effect adds an animated camera aperture that closes when you snap a shot. When the aperture opens you can cut to a freeze frame to create a still photograph from the moving footage.

Sound effects

You can enhance the animated shutter effect by adding an appropriate camera trigger sound from the Audio effects browser.

Keyframes

The SLR effect has a range of attributes that you can customise in the Inspector. You can set keyframes for each attribute by clicking this diamond-shaped icon. Once you’ve added the first keyframe manually, the next ones will be set automatically.

SLR effect

The Stylize section of the Effects browser contains a variety of camera effects including SLR. This adds an analogue camera viewfinder’s focus ring and animatable shutter to your video clip.
