Step-by-step
Tweak CD import settings
1 Open preferences
While in Mac itunes, click on itunes> Preferences from the menu bar and select ‘General’. Ensure that ‘Automatically retrieve CD track names from internet’ is ticked.
2 Show CD
Click on the ‘When a CD is inserted’ menu and change this to ‘Show CD’. This means you can easily tailor the import settings for each. Click ‘OK’ to save changes.
3 Import CD
Insert a CD and itunes should present the content. On this screen you should see an ‘Import CD’ button in the top-right corner of the interface – click it.
4 Import settings
In the Import Settings, set ‘Import Using’ to ‘AAC Encoder’ (sounds best regardless of the file size) and ensure ‘Use error correction when reading Audio CDS’ is ticked.
5 Change setting
While the Import Settings are displayed, click on the ‘Setting’ menu and change to ‘Custom’ to display the AAC Encoder window. You can now tweak the settings.
6 Complete import
When you are happy, click ‘OK’ and your CD will be imported into your itunes library whereby you can add album artwork (if it isn’t applied for you automatically).
