Step-by-step
Set up Alexa interactions
1 Update Alexa app
Go to the App Store and install or update the Alexa app on your iphone. Tap ‘Open’ to launch the app (or tap on the Alexa app icon from your Home screen).
2 Tap Alexa button
If you have an Echo device, you’ll be used to saying, “Alexa” before your commands.
With the app on your iphone, you need to tap the blue button at the bottom of the screen.
3 First time setup
Since this is your first time with Alexa on IOS, you must set it up first. You do this by tapping ‘Allow’ when prompted and agreeing to allow Alexa to access your microphone.
4 Allow location access
You should also let Alexa access your location if you’d like it to give you area-specific responses. Once you’ve done this, a list of suggested phrases will appear. Tap ‘Done’.
5 Issue a command
Now you’ll see a flashing line at the bottom of the screen. It appears whenever you press the Alexa button and it shows the app is listening for a command. Ask for something.
6 See the response
If Alexa is able to answer your query then it will appear on the screen. You can now press the Alexa button again to ask something else or tap the ‘X’ in the top-right corner.
