Find and use Alexa skills

Amazon has given Alexa the ability to carry out many tasks but third-party developers have created some additional skills

You can reach this screen by tapping the menu button in the top-left corner and selecting ‘Skills’ from the list of options. Knowledge base

Make phone calls

Alexa allows you to make calls as well as send and receive messages. To set this up, you need to tap the message icon in the app and input your mobile number on the next screen. You’ll be sent an access code to input. After that, you can enable ‘Drop In’ and use Alexa as an intercom. You can also allow Alexa to access your contacts.

View your skills

You can look for skills using the search engine and if you tap ‘Your Skills’ you can see which ones you have enabled. Tapping an unwanted skill here lets you disable it.

Enabling skills

If you like the look of a skill, you can tap to see exactly what it does and how to use it. You can then tap ‘Enable’ and it will be added to Alexa’s repertoire.

Categories of skills

There are many skills categories ranging from food and drink to health and fitness. Tapping ‘Categories’ helps you discover skills more easily. You can also view new arrivals.
