Free vs paid
The biggest limitation of Youtube Music in free mode is that you cannot turn the screen off or listen to music while you use another app. Youtube Music has to be visible on the screen. The Download option is another subscription-only feature and in free mode the app has to be online to stream music. You’ll find there are occasional ads too.
Show hidden buttons
Tap the image at the top to show hidden buttons. This one sends the output to other devices, like an Apple TV or Homepod. A button at the top sends it to a Chromecast TV.
Menu icon
This icon is everywhere! Press it to show a menu which changes depending on the item it is associated with. This one lets you share the track, add it to playlists and more.
Like and dislike
Buttons either side of the play controls enable you to show whether you like or dislike the current track. The app learns what sort of music you prefer and shows you more.
