Can I upgrade my first-gen Apple Watch?
Simple answer: no. Unfortunately for early adopters, Apple’s forthcoming watchos 5 release is not going to be compatible with the first-generation Apple Watch (those purchased at launch in 2015). It is only going to be available for the Series 1, Series 2 and Series 3 models released from 2016.
